The video Queen walked amongst us
Wow, I´ve just come off from the fifth webcast with Alex Jeffreys and tonight he had a guest speaker.
The lady in question was non other than Maria Andros aka The video Marketing Queen. She had me spellbound as she spoke of her meteoric rise in the video marketing niche.
In the space of 10 months she went from zero the well over $100k ! just by harnessing the power of video. She spoke with utter passion about her career, in fact I would say that her passion even rivals that of our very own Alex.
I cannot believe the amount of information she delivered tonight, quite incredible. The main platform that Maria uses for her own video promotion is YouTube, and she imparted to us some very useful tips for producing our own videos.
For example being authentic and don´t try and bluff your viewers. I think for a lot of people this is common sense, but I can understand perfectly what she means. The time I have seen sales pitches that are so cheesy and so obviously a hard sell even though the presenter is trying not to come over as selling to you, yea right. You know the type of sales pitch that you normally see on the late night. shopping channel
The one main truism that I heard tonight is that as consumers we are not stupid. The days of the hard sell are well and truly dead.
Slightly off topic, but still quite relevant was an email that I received from Michael Cheney. I laughed so much at this video because Michael got the idea that Maria was talking about tonight totally pegged.
He sang a version of Hallelujah but changed lyrics to fit in a product he was promoting, total genius
The whole point is though, that as a consumer I would be far more inclined to buy the product from Michael rather than anyone else because he made me laugh ! A very simple concept but oh so powerful.
Tonight when Alex had his turn to talk, he told us of an amazing competition that he was running with a total prize fund of $3000, does this guy over deliver or what !!
For the competition we have to produce a video and promote it on Youtube. The most original video will win $1500 and the video that atracts the most traffic will also win $1500. Needles to say I am going to try my hardest to get somwhere in both categories. So wish me luck and on the with the filming, is that my cue now Mr Demille !!

Paull,
Thought I’d come over here since I know how interested you are in all this viseo stuff. I bought my video recorder yesterday. It’s got more buttons and things than the control panel of a Concord rather than a Camcord (small joke, I know!)
Good points above. Come and see my take on it all when you get the time.
Regards
Gary SIMPSON.
PS: How about a link to that Cheney UK Idol audition?
Hey Paul…
Great post, I unfortunately missed the session due to some family commitments and couldn’t get out of…pain of death type thing or not being talked to for a week!
It sounds like it was a great session and I look forward to hearing the recording from the session.
How long did the session go for..and any other key take aways you can offer..
By the way site is looking pretty good.
Regards.

Hi Gary,
Good God, I am a nervous wreck !! way to much caffeine in my system, I think by tomorrow I will be climbing the up the walls ! After the show your blog was my first port of call because I knew you would be writing a doozy post even before I arrived, and you did again, git, lol
Really pleased for you about the camera, you do remember though that the maximum length of video is 10 minutes, so you will have to be quite vicious with your editing, not one of your lengthy monologues =O)
I´ve put a link to the Cheney song so hold tight and be ready to laugh !
Paull
Paull,
Oh my goodness! Was that really Cheney singing?
I was laughing but I dunno whether it was coz of the mangled lyrics or just the sheer banality of it all. I dunno. But it made me laugh. I still don’t quite know why.

Hi Paul,
You missed a real corker of a webcast last night ! but don´t fear Alex is putting it up in the members area today. The webcast was only a short one last night 3 hours or so, but the amount of great information that was crammed in that three hours was incredible ! Maria is a real diamond, she spoke with such utter passion about her video marketing, it was almost palpable.
Sit down today with a ream of paper and take notes, but then thinking about it, make that two ream of paper !
All the best,
Paull
Gary,
Don´t analyze why it made you laugh, the fact that it did proves the point.
Paull
Hey Paull,
I’ve yet to see a Michael Cheney dancing and singing around – do you have link – I’d love to see and maybe I too may roll on and start laughing and singing to it too.
Well I can’t remember who said it , but somebody did say that
“Laughter was the best medicine” and so I guess simialr applies to selling a product.
Who know, maybe next time we might see Michael Cheney on ‘X Factor’ or summat.
Anyway all the best and Good Luck with the filming, have you got your directors chair and camera set up yet? Oh and will we get to see any bloopers?
Nigel
PS: Now where did my clapperboard go?
Hi Nigel,
the link is already in the post. Just click on Michaels name. You don´t actually see him but you hear him in all his catawalling glory !!!
Oh I have no doubt Nigel that there will be many many takes to get it as I want it =o)
