My planning for the year ahead, or lack of
This post will be one of those heart on sleeve moments. I am looking at the clock in my office and it´s telling me that I should have been in bed five and a half hours ago, the time is 4.50 am..
It´s not that I don´t need to sleep, I do, I´m feeling totally drained.
Alex Jeffrey´s sent me an email about an hour ago saying that it was very important and that I should to go to his blog, so I did. He has made his first video of 2009 in which he talks about his plans for the year ahead. I watched the video intently as he describes how he intends to go away on holiday, and whilst he´s away from all the stress of his normal working environment he will make his plans for 2009 in which he will blast his way to a million dollar turnover for the year.
As I watched this video it hit me like a sledgehammer, what the hell was I doing watching a video of Alex at 4.30am !!
We all have busy lives and have to fit things around work and all the other mundane tasks that life throws at us but, what am I doing still awake at 4.30am. The reason I´m sat here at stupid o´clock in the morning is because the forward planning that I had laid out for myself at the beginning of this year SUCKS like a big one !!
The comment that I left on Alex´s blog was that I would love to position myself as a male version of Maria Andros, minus the earring =O) and that I would love to reach a target of $7000 a month by the end of this year. There will be as much chance of finding a snowball in hell of attaining that goal if I don´t get my act together, and quick. As we all know any one can be a busy fool.
On so many occasions during this course I have nodded in all the right place when Alex spoke to us about planning ahead, what a chump I´ve been. I had noticed from my previous visits to Gary Simpson´s blog that he has a free Ebook about time management, needless to say I now have a copy that I will use diligently.
Later today I plan to get a couple of tattoos on my behind with the phrases KOTOBOT (keeping on top of being on top) and on the other cheek, Fail to plan, plan to fail !!
Sorry to ramble but it´s now 5am..

Hi Paull,
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog.
You are a natural with the videos and I’m sure you’ll establish yourself along those lines as suggested by the previous comments.
Glad you’ve finally got a plan. I keep getting distracted and going off on a tangent. Maybe there’s something in this autism being genetic after all because I’m finiding it very hard to focus on anything.
It’s certainly a case of information overload, trying to do everything and achieving little!
Even Gary’s time management planner isn’t helping. It’s a bit like when I go shopping. I write the list but never stick to it.
Oh well, here I go again – failing forward!
Best wishes
Jean
Hi Jean,
I think as a collective we are all struggling a bit with onslaught of tasks that need completing. I thankfully am beginning to get to grips with the backlog of work that had built up. Funnily enough it happens to the best of us I have just left Gary Simpsons blog and I read a comment he made to someone else that in the last 72 hours or so he´s only managed to sleep for 8 hours !
Distraction has never really been a problem for me, my problems arose from bad planning, I suppose you could say there one and the same but once my heads down it´s down and it takes a hell of a lot to sway me from the job in hand.
Anyway Jean thanks for popping by and we will catch up soon,
Paull
Great post here Paul,
And you are getting so many nice comments and interactions here, awesome!
I say,
just keep developing the strength of your vision,
plan based on what you now know,
proceed ‘in the direction of’ your vision,
and the details will reveal themselves.
You are capable and worth it, go get it!
PS, I see I’m not in your blogroll, could I be added . . please
And make sure you use my IM blog url, you visited my personal growth blog yesterday , which is fine, but – this is the one I’m using for busines development http://makeinternetmarketingmoney.com
Thanks a bunch,
John
Hi John,
Thankyou very much for the comment. Yes your right I seem to be getting some great interaction from the other students now, it´s a big relief as I was really struggling for a while to get anyone to come and chat. I guess all the oil rig hopping is finally paying dividends. The one thing I possess in spades is vision and drive, although I did waver slightly a week ago, busy fool and all that ! I have obviously now added you to my blogroll.
Please feel free to come back any time,
Paull
@Admin –
Oh, but I love this beautiful British weather!! It’s a good thing I don’t feel the cold or I’d be permanently wrapped up – seems like winter is going on forever!!
Nikki,
I cannot imagine having to live through another British grey wet winter URGHH !! Never mind you will have your summer soon, I think this year it´s scheduled for the 14th of July =O)
Paull
Hi Paull,
I finally just got re-organized after the holidays! I seem to think I’m superwoman and can get everything done in 1 day! I’m actually accomplishing things, but it doesn’t feel like I’m doing anything fast enough.
Oh, I’ve also been banned from a tube mogul site, and a few others I have to go and do manually (but isn’t that why these sites are on tube moguls list? So they can submit our video to them?!) Go figure…
I loved your video on Garry’s blog! I made 2 more today and it only took 1 hour to do BOTH videos! What a relief to be getting used to making a video, the first one was just way too stressful.
Well, I’m on my way to Gary’s blog to make sure people are treating Alex kindly, and I’ll put my vote in.
Talk to you soon,
Lori
Hello Lori,
We all seem to be burning the candle at both ends ! Funnily enough some of my accounts in “Tube mogul” were deleted, I think the sites were video music sites, so obviously we contravened their term of service by posting videos about marketing. Never miond though there are a lot more to post to !
All the best,
paull
