Do Giveaways work ?

I just want to talk about giveaways –do they work ?
I have been doing some split testing as to what piques peoples interest and have offered two different free giveaway packages.
I took on board what Alex and Linda Carol said about what to offer and what not to offer.
I have offered on the one hand, a very good package of 30 different quality PLR and MRR products, and on the other hand, a single product of my own.
The 30 product pack certainly attracted interest, but unfortunately there was a downside. A significant number of people de-subscribed almost immediately after downloading this attractive and good value package.
I was able to ascertain from their email addresses that they were more than likely taking the 30 product pack to split up and use themselves.
Quite a number of people seemed to take no notice of the double optin request, even though they must have realized that they would not be able to get the free offer without doing so.
After editing the optin form and making it clear, in huge red text, the necessity for the double optin, there was a slight increase in people doing so, but there was still a large number who didn’t. Why? There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme nor reason, why complete only part of the process if you want the free offer? Surely you do what you have to do, to get it?
Then I submitted a single product, and whilst the take up rate was significantly lower, the upside was that the retention and open rate was much higher. This surely goes to prove that it is not such a good idea to offer such a large number of products at any one time. You will only attract freebie seekers!
This proves the point that Alex made that it is far better to offer one quality product of your own than somebody else’s batch of 30 products, albeit quality ones.

Just as well then that I am currently creating my very own product (which will of course be of very high quality, as I only provide what I would like to receive).

Have you tried adding a confirmation page in your opt-in process?
I always use a confirmation page and my Aweber stats are showing an 83% confirmation rate.

This time, I’m after some advice. What would you suggest as an easy-to-use first-timers’ video camera thing? I have one on my mobile which is shcokingly poor quality, so thinking I may need to make my presence felt with something of a little more quality…

It seems to me pointless to give away free software and stuff made by others.
The point of a giveaway is that it’s an opportunity to brand yourself as you build your list. I certainly don’t want my brand to be the guy that gives away free stuff from the bargain basement.
In fact one of the people who has helped me most to establish my on-line business frequently sends me offers and free programs and frankly, although I find his advice excellent, more than once I’ve been tempted to unsubscribe from his list due to the amaont of time I’ve spent attempting to get this free gizmo, or that free watsit to work.
Clearly your story is the way forward. Long may you prosper

Haven’t seen you around for a while, so thought I’d pop over to check whether things are all ok? You haven’t had one of your nights out with the boys & found yourself stranded somewhere due to getting on some form of transport in an inebriated state?! Or has something happened with the inflatable sheep?
I’m still planning on becoming the team mascot for at least one drinking session – might wait till the weather is a little better then I can sit out in the sun & enjoy a few cocktails at the same time…now that sounds like a plan.

To be perfectly honest with you I have not been out with the guys for a few weeks now, the pressure really kicks in at this time of the year for anyone associated with the marine industry so frolicking half naked with blow up animals will have to wait again until the end of the season.
